Discover South Tyrol

Finding back to yourself in this fascinating scenery

For some it's a holiday in the countryside where tranquillity takes priority. For others who prefer to be active there are hikes to huts and alpine pastures, undisturbed stretches of land for you to experience by mountain bike or climbing to the mountain's peaks. Many of you want to experience the melting pot of cultures here, or get to know the history of the region and its people as well as our unique cuisine. We have put together some tips for you, which will further heighten the sense of anticipation of your holidays in South Tyrol.

The symbol of our holiday region is the waterfall in Partschins. The masses of water drop approx. 100m in freefall over a steep, rocky ridge.

All around Partschins, hiking in South Tyrol's largest nature area is possible on 3 levels. The Texelgruppe nature park offers approx. 240km of well-prepared and signposted tracks, which take you along the various higher echelons. Just slightly above the valley, you can walk along panoramic paths, irrigation channels and high paths. Those who like conquering peaks have a wide choice, there are 13 mountains of 3,000 metres that you can challenge.

Our walking tips:

  • Try the age old canal walks, the so-called “Waalwege”
  • Follow the mystical and prehistoric paths
  • Experience the gentle slopes of the sunny Vinschgau mountains
  • Travel the unique Merano high route (1500m high)
  • Along the Spronser valley reach one of the highest Alpine lakes in Europe
  • Visit the peaks of the Dreitausender

There are numerous stops with traditional mountain guesthouses, age old farms, beautiful mountain slopes and remote refuges in which stop and stay a while. The Partschins tourist board also offers guided walks and tours.
